A Happy Journey Starts Like That
Wilson posted at 12:03 AM

If there's one thing that makes me hate internship most, it got to be the MRT. Can't wait for internship to end so that I need not squeeze in the MRT during peak hours in the morning and evening and get squashed near the door any more!!

Talk about graciousness, please don't blame the commuters for everything and look at the state of your MRT traffic before pointing fingers.

The way weekends should be
Wilson posted at 11:43 PM

Probably one of the best weekends I had, not that anything special happened, but I was pretty much occupied and stress free. Met up with TWC group and decided that they will be going Genting on the same day I am going with the Greenies, so I shall have 2 groups of friends with me at Genting. Yeah! Then had a short meet up with the NPCC peeps to receive the usual inflow of (relationship) updates.

No training on Saturday since it's archery outing! Went prawning (a very short one though) followed by dinner. And today met up with the Greenies to celebrate the July babies' birthday. Good to see those who went overseas intern/ exchange once again after such a long time.

Will be meeting up with the above mentioned groups in the near future soon for more hao chi de dong xi. Another happy thing - it's 3 weeks to Merdeka!!!

Slave of Technology
Wilson posted at 12:45 AM

If you still remember around ten years back when internet was getting more popular and articles were discussing the advantages of internet, one of the advantages is

"With internet, one will not be restricted to the mundane 9 to 5 working hours and can work in the comfort of their homes."

And ten years later, it is precisely this "advantage" which returns to haunt me. Internet has not liberated me from the 9-5 work (9-6 in fact), but has extended my working hours to 24 X 7. After ending work at 6, there will still be another set of work for me to do at "the comfort of my home." First I will need to check my school email, and when the word 'archery' appears in the subject, that's more or less about it. If I'm lucky I will just need to delegate the job to someone else, if not I will have to follow up on the matter myself. Fortunately as the president, I need not have to consult others when I need to make decisions and that save me precious time and the irritation of people asking me fo r work.

That does not end my working day yet. Exploring into forex will means there is much more work for me to do. First of all will need to read on economic data and news, next will be reading charts and followed by monitoring. At least I am still using the demo account at the moment so I expect things to get worse in the coming months. By the time I finish my trades for the day, it should be about 1am and time for me to sleep.

At this rate I will probably get internet phobia soon. Everytime I log on to the school email I wish that there will be no new email and everytime a MSN window pops up, I pray hard that it is non-work-related. It takes courage even for me to log on to MSN nowadays.

Has the benefits of internet outweighed my freedom? That depends. If I get real rich with the internet, if I have more time to hunt mouse and play blackshot, if I manage to find romance on the net. If all the 'ifs' come true, then I will probably be a willing slave of technology.

A week in the life a marketing intern
Wilson posted at 3:43 PM

Laziness is one of the causes of inactivity of my blog and the other reason is that my blog lacks direction. I am starting to get sick of the template (it was never changed since donkey years ago) and I'm no longer sure of what type of content is suitable. With facebook, there's absolutely no need for events coverage and I can't write stuff that's too personal as well for privacy issue. As a matter of fact I quite like the content of Xiaxue's blog, cause it feels rather real and the issues discussed are rather interesting. No matter what the direction is, the most important thing is that I must stay motivated to blog.

Time has become a scarce resource since I started internship and I decided to investigate where has my time gone to, therefore made the following breakdown of my time in a typical week.

50hrs for Internship (9hrs per day plus OT)
15hrs for Travelling time
10hrs for Archery Training + Admin Work
15hrs for Forex Demo (average 3hrs per day)
3hrs for Tuition (inclusive travelling)
3hrs for Gym
42 hrs Sleep (Average 6hrs per day)

So with 168hrs per week, I'm left with a pathetic 30hrs for myself to go out with friends, hunt mouse, find dates clear my room etc. How can that be enough? Starting to imagine how is it possible for me work a 9-6 job continuously for a few decades with so little hours for myself. And I truly believe that the hours is inflated as I did not take into account time to shower, and napping etc, so actually it's quite a scary figure. I need to get rich quick and get at least 100hrs of personal time every week.
