Calm before the storm
Wilson posted at 1:13 AM

Not blogging that often nowadays but that doesn't mean I'm mugging. Actually I've been enjoying myself for the past few days. I felt that I'm so slack that I feel that it's the calm before the storm. My LTB project has taken (yet another) setback recently and that should be my greatest academic concern at this point of time. Work aside, that's how I enjoyed the past few days:

Last friday: Went Ziyou's house for Mahjong with Weishan and Kaihang. Bad night and ended up losing $20plus and din manage to strike the 5mil toto as well. Sadded.

Saturaday: Shopping with Ziyou for Bin's present. Ended up din manage to get anything for Bin but each of us got a bag for ourselves. I finally managed to get myself a NUM bag. Amazing and courageous right? SMU students should be creative and dare to try new stuff, so I gotta revolutionize the fashion scene in SMU. First with my blue laptop case and now with my new bag. I shall see the reaction of my coursemates on the day of the bag's debut.

Can you imagine me carrying it?

Sunday: Bin's birthday. Before that met up with Huimin to buy Bin's present and just nice met Lewis and Alycia and spoilt their date by asking them to shop with us. Due to over specific requirements, did not manage to get a bag for Bin again. Met up with the rest of the Ex-greenies at Chomp Chomp for Bin's birthday treat. Carried on with deserts at Ice3.

Monday: Did not went to school at all. No lessons and amazingly no LTB meeting as well. Just went for floorball training in the night. The turnout was pathetic at around 8. Guess people are all busy mugging, how no life. haha. The lower the turnout, the more shag it is. No team rotations nor subs and my body was still slightly aching today.

Today: Went Deming's house with Bin to play Halo 3. Quite a cool game and glad I am playing it on the very first day it was launch. Good way to destress with all the shootings though I'm more interested in shooting teammates and this leads to fight between me and Bin off the screen. Played till evening and found that Deming had the 'Secret' VCD and we decided to watch it. Finally managed to watch the show after such a long time. Nice plot, nice girl, touching. That sums it all.

Emo Bug, Shoo!!
Wilson posted at 11:33 PM

Somehow felt a bit emo today, but do not know exactly why. Nothing special happened today. Having class, mugging in library, mugging in Laselle. Reach home prepared tomorrow's presentation a bit and found myself having nothing much to do. Perhaps it's a withdrawal symptom from mugging or just that people tend to think a bit more when they have nothing to do, emo bug slowly creep towards me. All the sad songs which played on the radio station did not help at all. Finding ways to get rid of emo bug, but nothing is left to distract me from it.

Allowed myself to go on an emo mode for a while and suddenly thought of repairing my CD-Rom drive. Unscrewed my com, removed it and put it back. At the moment of truth, it works. It has been dead for the past few weeks and finally I've manage to get it alive after reading through tonnes of FAQ on the net and downloading drivers, editing the registry and somehow the most simple method works best. Felt so happy and satisfied. There goes the emo bug. Now I've learnt to appreciate my CD-Rom drive as well.

Out of the Mugging Cycle
Wilson posted at 10:53 PM

For the past week or so I have been trying very very hard to break out of the mugging cycle. It all started on Sunday when I worked till late in the night and from that day onwards I did not manage to sleep before 2am. Based on this experience I’ve managed to come out with the theory of vicious cycle of mugging.

For a student who slacked off for a moment, the mugging cycle is as below:

Step 1: Student work late as he need to hand in assignment the next day
Step 2: Student returns home the next day tired and hence decides to take a nap
Step 3: Student woke up and found that he ran out of time to complete his assignment
Step 4: Back to step 1

While for a more hardworking student, he’s not in the mugging cycle and follows a different cycle

Step 1: Student finishes his work early and decided to do his homework in advance and still manage to sleep early.
Step 2: Student returns home energetic and find he having nothing much to do.
Step 3: Back to step 1

Thanks to my hard work the past weekend I’ve now managed to break the mugging cycle. Felt so relieve that I’m finally able to take a breather again. Time to clear the stuff that I always wanted to clear but have no time and perhaps go for some retail therapy. Finished my work for the day and tomorrow will be a free day without group meetings (for the first time in dunno how many days). It’s time to say hi again to 8hrs of sleep per day.

Finally a new post
Wilson posted at 1:18 AM

For the past 10 days or so, this blog is so dead without any new post. Demong is suggesting that I'm busy flirting and Bin is thinking I'm busy mugging. As much as I wish Demong is correct, I have to admit that school work is the main cause of the inactive blog.

I've been working till late at night for the past few days. 3.30am on Sunday, 4am on Monday, 2am yesterday and probably 2plus tonight as well. Projects and meetings just don't seem to end and my PDA have been fully utilized to help me remember my schedules. The primary reason why I'm orking so hard for the past few days will be that I had an enriching weekend, therefore allowing my work to snowball.

Went for archery course last Saturday morning at Potong Pasir CC under SMU archery. It's a sports which I wished to pick up and I thought I have talent in the sport as I shot quite well during sports camp and CCA day. However, the course proved to be a disaster for me. It was the first time I tried shooting using my left hand and I felt rather awkward and not too used to it. As a result, my arrows were not clustered enough. Furthermore, either there's something wrong with my elbow joint or my biceps are too big that the bowline hit my hand again and again and again... My whole upper arm was bruised by the end of the session but fortunately it did not hurt as much as it appeared to be.

Went back to school for meeting before going for the E.Y.E Investment Boot Camp in the evening. Basically it's a camp which taught members how to invest and quite wasted that I missed the bulk of the activities but the remaining talks and game which I attended were very enriching for me. One thing that impressed me during the camp was the food. We had catered dinner buffet and guess what was served? Stingray, softshell crab, prawns and other good stuffs. More surprises in the night as there was a firework display at the national museum and we were able to view it upclose from the classrooms where we were then. That aside, the camp benefited me a lot and cause me to have the urge to invest instead of leaving spare cash to rot in the bank, earning the pathetic 0.25% per year. I'm now playing the share competition organised by POEMS, just opened a trading account with CIMB today and looking into the possibility of investing in 3month t-bills in the coming weeks. After all, that's what I'm learning and probably what I will be doing when I enter the society to work so why not start now?

Yet another presentation tomorrow morning and got to rehearse a while more after I finished blogging. Hopefully life will get better after tomorrow with more time to slack. For now, I'm just a tired but happy man.

When Less is More
Wilson posted at 12:39 PM

Time flies and all of the sudden I'm already at the age of 21. Now I'm finally in the legal age to go into Genting, sign my own indemnity form, watch R21 movies among other stuff I can do. Nevertheless did not organise any big celebration on the day itself to mark this transition but thanks to my friends and family, I had an unique and joyous for the past few days.

Everything goes on as usual on the day of my birthday itself. Had lesson in the morning, just like any other day. After the lesson found that Bin had ended her lessons for the day as well therefore decided to meet up with her for lunch. Since it was my birthday and I was in a good mood she was fortunate enough to get a treat from me at Shimbashi Soba at Paragon. The selling point of the restaurant is that the Soba is handmade. For the set I had the portion was quite big but nevertheless there was always space for the Mochi dessert.

After lunch originally wanted to catch a movie since we both had nothing on in the afternoon. Sadly 'Secret' and stopped showing at many places and there was no suitable timeslots for '881' so decided to chill in the library instead. Towards the evening, two of Bin's friend came to meet her and surprisingly they knew my name even though I've never met them before. Feels good to imagine I'm high profile for the moment though.

Went home and change and prepare for the SMU Freshman Bash @ MOS. Went with my FTB group for the bash. Unfortunately, it was rather boring especially since I'm not a clubbing person and most of my FTB group left soon after the pageant. Therefore met up with Derrick, Lana and Ziyou and went out to Cafe Iguana for a drink and chill instead. They had an impromptu birthday celebration for me without cake or candle. View the video to see how they did it!

The next day met up with the Ex-greenies for the traditional birthday treat at Holland Village. Had a sumptuous meal at Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao especially with Mdm Chih showing no mercy at all when it comes to ordering the tim sum. After dinner proceeded to Eski Bar for a drinking session. That's my first visit there and found it to be a cool place, literally. Especially in the freezer room where the temperature is sub-zero, I was shivering and can't last more than a few minutes inside. Talked and played bridge there till past midnight. Halfway through I was rather shag due to the alcohol even though I did not drink much. Just around 2 cups of long island tea but perhaps I am more used to the lower alcohol content in Timbre's long island. The result was halfway through I fell asleep and Huimin took some unglam shots of me. Grr..

P.S. Thanks to everyone who sent your greetings to me and for the presents. I really appreciated it and like them a lot. Cheers :)
