Team 100 Outing @ Harbourfront/ Vivo
Wilson posted at 9:14 PM

Took leave to attend today's team 100 outing and it was a great sacrifice with $86.50 of opportunity cost. Originally scheduled to be a team 100 + revamped team 100 outing but due to last min PS-ing it became an original team 100 plus Xunbin outing.

Had a buffet brunch at Dragon Gate Restaurant at Habourfront. Basically it's a tim sum buffet with around 20-30 varieties of tim sum like siew mai, prawn dumpling and pork ribs. At $17/pax I would say that the price is rather reasonable for a buffet which makes me so full that as of now I still feel bloated from the amount of food I eat. That makes me so sinful as well and I guess I have no choice but to go jogging tomorrow morning. The conversation during the buffet was the standard team 100 style of gossiping and shooting each other. Xunbin suits team 100 wells as she's just as funky as us and amazingly she's a fellow 'Brainiac viewer' to Roger.

After the buffet went to watch Pirates of the Caribbean at Vivo. As a blockbuster movie it lives up to its name quite well and since it will only be launched tomorrow, at this point of time would not like to comment too much on this movie to avoid any spoilers. One of the longer movie with 2.8hr of show time and the story line basically carry on quite closely to the previous part so it is adviced to watch the part two before watching this movie otherwise it might be quite hard to comprehend. Afterwhich carried on with our usual photo taking session in Vivocity and had a light dinner at the foodcourt before calling it a day.

Going back to work again tomorrow but not really in a mood to work nowadays and can't wait to quit. However after receiving the SMU e-mail regarding the school fees payment I started to have second thoughts. I'm still quite far from reaching the 28k target for the school fees and I still need some buffer in my bank to continue to enjoy the current standard of living for the next few years and guess it will be hard not to depend on my parents again. There's always hope for tomorrow though. The toto draw tomorrow have accumulated to 6mil and if I strike then there will not be any need to worry about money for the rest of my life anymore. Got to go buy before I go work tomorrow. Wish me all the best!!

NEXT Review
Wilson posted at 10:45 PM

Went to watch 'Next' with Boon, SM and Wilson under Boon's recommendation and this subsequently earn Boon a 50 movie ban from recommendating future movies to watch. That should be sufficient to sum up how bad the movie is. Basically this movie is about a man who is able to see 2mins ahead in the future and initially uses this ability to be a magician and gamble in casinos. As some terrorist group threatens to detonate a nuclear device in USA, he is being tracked down by the FBI to assist to find out where is the nuclear device deployed before it is detonated. Sounds rather creative for a movie plot so far?

Initiallly the movie is rather entertaining as the movie explores many interesting ways how the special ability can be used. As the movie progress on, the plot get more and more unrealistic as the FBI seems pool in their entire resources and in tracking the man down then the terrorists as if he is the only hope. It soon gets confusing as soon the viewers could not tell which events happened in real life and which events is his sight of the future. Somehow or the other there are various scenes when somehow the man is able to modify the 2mins rule and see much further ahead. Throughout the movie there's quite some action on going which still makes the movie watchable. Very unfortunately at the final 10 mins the ending totally killed off the movie and if not for the ending this movie would have gotten at least a 3/5 rating. Therefore I would advice that either you skip this movie completely or leave the cinema 10mins before time so as to keep a good impression of the movie. Rating for the complete movie will be 1.5/5.0.

After the movie, went out for an 'IX outing' organized by Demong at PS cartel. It's more like a 'Green Outing' rather than an IX outing as only me, Daryl, Chih and Theodric went for it and Roger did joined us as we are about to go. A simple dinner outing but unfortunately we could not avoid the topic of work. Guess we are all too workaholic.

1 Day Adventure @ Pulau Ubin
Wilson posted at 9:03 PM

Went for a cycling trip at Pulau Ubin with Biao, Rich, SM and Boon. Thinking of it, it's a long time since I last went to Ubin, four years plus to be exact. In the past during the secondary school days used to go there quite often for tiring training camps and today is the first time I actually went there voluntarily.
The adventure starts here

Took a quick ferry ride from Changi ferry terminal and within 10 mins time we've arrived at Pulau Ubin. Things have not changed much since I went 4 years back, still the same old undeveloped and simple island. Not wasting any time, rented the bicycle at the first shop we saw at $5/day for the better bicycles which is quite affordable.

Started off exploring the West side of the island, past the Ubin resorts and ended at the OBS site. Everything was quite smooth and the slopes were quite manageable. Most of the time we managed to ride on the proper road and only need to ride on the dirt path on certain occasions. Along the way passed by a sign stating 'German Girl Shrine' and decided to proceed there to take a look. It's a tougher ride there as along the way there's big puddles of water on the dirt path and we have to push our bike through. Did went through the obstacles which is only a prelude of what's more to come and even so did not manage to find the shrine.

Yes, this is a cycling trip

Proceeded to explore the Northern part of the island to Nordin beach. After which we stumbled upon a bridge and was not too sure whether we should proceed across or not as the place do not look quite accessible looking at the litter laid on the ground but eventually we did. Perhaps it's the worst mistake we made that day. From littered dirt path to muddy path, and eventually the path became too narrow that we could not cycle through and we have to alight and bash through the vegetation. Even during my army days I did not try bashing through vegetation before but nevertheless it was quite exciting as there was not a single soul in sight and we do not know where the path will lead to and all we know is there's no turning back after bashing for some time. Eventually we did manage to reach a main track and we realised that we went one big round through somewhere not shown on the map.
At Nordin Beach

Half-way bashing through

Carried on with our adventure to the Eastern part and we intended to explore Chek Jawa. However, somewhere on the journey we turned too early before reaching Chek Jawa and along a steep slope Biao lost control and flew into the bush along with the bicycle. The impact bent the bicycle wheel causing it to be unable to be ride on anymore. Therefore we decided to call it a day and proceed back to the terminal. Somewhere near the terminal stuntman Boon had a failed stun and injured himself again somehow. What a bad way to end an adventure. After returning the bicycles, we had lunch/dinner at a restaurant on the island to reward ourselves for the adventure. After everything, took the ferry back to mainland Singapore, shagged and scarred by mosquito bites.

Callback : 1 week on
Wilson posted at 10:47 PM

It's been one week since I entered the callback team and it's a completely new experience for me. Different job scope, different colleagues and different location not really used to it. Compared to Green Team, Callback is so much slacker, at least for now. 40-50+ cases per day, MMS, prepaid, check contract and o/s and less chance to get nasty customers, am sure I'm more capable than that. One thing that I admit I'm not capable of is to act busy. When you have completely no cases for an hour, with managers within 5metres of you, can't surf net, msn and no spam from teammates who are having fun banking the newbies.. How bad can work get. I'm not a workaholic but too little work can be a torture at times. Starting to miss the good old days where can walk around to chat, stand up and pick up calls, spam like e-mail has no size limit and start to surf net and msn when approaching call stats. Something to rejoice about is that there's good colleagues here as well. Elmo, Melvin, Irene and Eve have been very helpful and friendly as well, though there's still some sort of generation gap unlike in green team. Perhaps I shouldn't compare too much to the good old days, having a slack job now helps me to retire gradually though.

Within the same week Huimin has left StarHub as well, therefore we had a celebration, I mean a farewell party for her at Timbre. We have lots of fun and drink that night as Demong and Caelan totally K.O that night. However, Timbre is not such a suitable place for chilling as the loud music makes it rather hard to talk to each other. Nevertheless, we had lots of photos as usual thanks to Huimin's camera. Guess that night officially marks to disperse of team 100 as finally someone is leaving StarHub for good but I'm sure that will not be the last time we see each other. Just coming Thurs HM, Demong and me will be going shopping. Hope to have more outings together in the future, perhaps with team 100 beta as well.

To My Dearest Team 100
Wilson posted at 9:54 PM

To Deming, Huimin, David and Weiling,

First of all thanks for all the farewell food, especially for the 99% choc and the cookies and cream. How evil of you all, should have known that I'm on a diet and yet bought so much food for me. Nevermind, I shall just go for more exercises after all the high-fats food.. lol..

The past few months in Team 100 was very enjoyable for me and I never knew working life can be so fun. Somewhere in January I was already so lethargic from work that I almost decided to quit after my contract ends in January. Fortunately I did not otherwise I will not be able to meet such great colleagues like you and the support that you gave me is amazing. You all are my motivation to tank against the countless nasty customers.

Think our team is so cool; we worked hard and play hard. I'll remember all the hao chi de dong xi sessions, team talks and outings that we had together. Let's meet up for more hao chi de dong xi sessions and leave our footprints places all around Singapore. By the way, I have not forgotten my promise. Once I strike toto, we will all go for dinner at Giraffe. Let's hope that day comes soon k?

Now it's time for personal messages.

Demong: Guess you are the person in SH I knew the for the longest period of time. We went for the same interview, got into IX and now green. Finally we are going separate ways this time round and seems like you've planned tonnes of programs to keep you occupied after you leave SH. All the best and hope you have lots of fun and probably you can grow less ben dan at the same time.

Huimin: Few more days and you will be gone as well, happily exiling in the far far land of Middle Kingdom. Think you brought lots of life into the team as well, with your liveliness and your camera. Just bear with the exile for a while and once you come back you can go for hot dates everyday again.

Weiling: Chill a bit girl, cause your stats are really intimidating and hopefully you don't scare away the next gen of team 100. Thanks for the past outings you've organised and we are depending on you to organise more hao chi de dong xi sessions in the near future.

David: Now there's less people to spy on you now that you can happily send out LLLs and Roger and me will try to keep your competitor far far away. If nothing goes wrong you should be the last surviving Team 100 member left in StarHub. Remember to pass down our legacies to the new Greenies.

Roger: Guess will be stuck with you at least for the next one month but nevermind, will still leave you some words of advice: Watch less Maniac/wiki and get a girlfriend.

Hope no one is already crying at this point of time. With my new shift it's probably quite hard for us to go for lunch together but with a bit of effort from everyone, I guess we can still meet up outside for more fun. At any point of time should you all miss me so much, for now can always walk around 20metres away from your workstation and you should be able to see me. Even after hot babes/ hunks come to team 100 don't ever forget me k? Miss ya.

Badminton & K-Box @ Kovan/ Hougang
Wilson posted at 9:18 PM

Continued the fun-filled week with an outing with the NP Bachelors' Club. It was a badminton outing at Kovan CC which sort of came in timely as it was my rest day and I deperately need some form of exercise after the sinful Kublai Khan buffet. The badminton session was quite fun and tiring, especially after the single game with Richie, which was a very closely tied match. There's this phrase 'pattern more than badminton' and I suppose that suits me quite well as I have some unique 'fairy' poses when playing backhand which I developed since NS and I guess it works rather well in terms of distracting opponents and providing entertainment value. Hopefully there's more chances to play badminton in the near future but for now I think it's time to change the grip of my 'Wilson' racket.

After which proceeded to Hougang K-Box with Boon, Biao, Kaidun and Juncheng. Originally wanted to sing for just 2-3hrs but eventually sang all the way till 9pm, which was really straining especially for the throat. It have been a long long time since I went K-Box and I think the last time was with the S4 branch peeps. Had quite a lot of fun there but I was a bit shagged out from the badminton session to enjoy fully and I still need to maintain my voice as I need it for work. Hearing and watching Biao sing was fun as he was quite high and he was so loud that singing with mic or not seems the same for him. The part when we tried to break Juncheng's voice using a triathalon of Shin's songs was fun too as he put in his 101% effort to reach the extreme high pitch part of the songs.

My Last Green Team Outings
Wilson posted at 11:13 PM

Actually my title should read 'My Last Green Team Outings As a Green Team Member' because I'm sure my beloved Team 100 will still invite me for future outings right? It has been quite fun due to the outings the last 2 days. On Friday we had a Team 100 + Caelan dinner at Kublai Khan Mongolian Buffet at Park Mall and on Saturday we had a Green Team Spiderman 3 movie outing at Great World City.

I shall start with the Kublai Khan Buffet first and it was my first time dining there. After the 15% Passion Card discount (thanks to mum) the buffet was quite affordable at $30/pax. However I would have say that the buffet is not as good as it sounds. When I first heard of Mongolian buffet the first thought I had is lots of BBQ meat, something like those cutlet-size meat you see on Japanese food documentary. Only after entering the restaurant I realised that it's actually an international buffet and the only thing mongolian was the tepanyaki style bbq meat. The variety was wide nevertheless, there's sushi, seafood, tepanyaki, stews and good desserts too and more or less similar to Sakura. The ambiance was not that fantastic in the sense that it did not have a themed decoration and did not give the consumer the real Mongolian experience. However that was not really important since we had good food and accompany of each other.

Outside Kublai Khan

On Saturday night went for the Spiderman 3 movie outing at Great World City instead of the planned Vivocity. It wasn't a change of plan but rather because Demong booked the wrong cinema. I do not mind the change of venue but found the mistake quite hilarious, though Vivocity seems as grand as GV Grand in Great World City and contains the word 'city' as well. Fortunately he realised the mistake early in the morning and successfully prevented a potential tragedy outside GV Vivocity. That aside, Spiderman 3 was quite a good movie in terms of action and plot and have enough substance for a 140min movie. I shall skip the movie review for Spiderman cause I suppose everyone will be watching this movie and due to the fact I still have quite a few backlog of posts which I will be blogging later. The movie was so long that I have to share a cab with Natasha home. The cabbie was an uncle which Natasha said looks pervert and she claims that the cabbie was making eyes at me. I did not see that but I saw him dozing off for some moments throughout the ride but fortunately it was only a short trip and we both arrived home safely.

Outside GV Grand, Great World City (not Vivocity)

A Disappointing Shopping Trip
Wilson posted at 8:38 PM

As promised in my previous post, went for shopping today at Far East and Heeren. Started off at the Heeren Shops and went straight to the FleshImp shop. Remembered the last time when I went there there was a couple of nice clothes but when I went there today all the clothes looks very beng-ish therefore left the shop within 1min. Next browse around other Heeren shops like 77th Street, adidas, etc but nothing seems appealing to me. Moved on to Far East and on the way went to Paragon to take a look, as in really look only as the price proves to be too much of a deterence to me. Finally arrived at Far East and seems like there's not much clothes for guys there as well. Combed the whole Far East and finally gotten a normal Adidas shirt. On the way home passed by Isetan and went in to take a look. Saw one particular white Topman shirt which caught my eye but it was $69 and above my budget so decided to give it a skip.

For the past year or so my fashion sense was more or less influenced by S&K as their T-shirts are quite creative in design and do not have the 'Beng' component therefore suit my needs quite well. On the otherhand hand, this make me less open to other style as well especially the more formal style where I found that I have only 1 shirt in my entire waredrobe. Perhaps my shopping trip today was too random but now I suppose I have a better idea of what I want to buy on my next shopping trip - Japanese smart casual style.

Hard to imagine but I'll try my best to avoid a disastrous look. I'll need to get more shirts (which I have 1 now) and more cardigans (which I have non) and a hair cut soon as my fringe is starting to poke my eye. Been on a look out for skilful hairstylist but have yet to confirmed which is more suitable for me. All this comes with a price and after reviewing my current financial status it might pose some problem. I'll do what I can and hopefully can strike Toto tomorrow. =)

Happy Labour Day
Wilson posted at 11:23 PM

It's Labour Day today therefore there's no need to work and hence went for a bowling session with Wilson, ZX and SM at Hougang Superbowl. We arranged to meet up at 1.30pm and informed Wilson to meet at 1pm but to our surprise, Wilson was actually not late today and even arrived early at 12.50pm. So poor Wilson actually have to wait for around 40mins till me and SM arrived and ZX was gloriously late and arrived at only 2pm.

It's my first time bowling there and the lanes look pretty okay. The place itself was quite ulu despite being a public holiday it's not fully booked. Actually I've already made a reservation last night but there's no record found when we went today but there's available lanes so it's okay. I totally flunked my bowling today and was 'relegated' for all 3 games we played, though I tied with ZX for the last place the last game. Only managed to hit above 100 (101) during the last game and my points for the other 2 games were unmentionable. Guess it's the balls there which caused me to flunk my bowling as all of us complained of aching fingers halfway through the game. The feel was different from the last time though I have no 'pro feeling' today and bowled a bit different from my usual style as well. The good thing is that bowling there is cheap. With my SMU student pass it's only $2.20/game. Maybe I should go for secret training there so that I can trash them the next time we bowl together.

Tomorrow is another off day for me. Not enough MJ kakis so I guess I'll go shopping tomorrow. Really getting sick of my wardrobe nowadays but wondering where can I actually get the clothes I want. Heeren, Far East, Bugis or Vivo? Let's see my mood tomorrow...
