Happy Thaipusam
Wilson posted at 10:50 PM

Went to work despite off day today, for money of course. What other reason can there be? That’s not the point of my blog today, as the title implies. If you are a non-Indian who did not pass by Douby Gauht or Little India today, most probably you will not even realize that today is Thaipusam. Or worse still, some may ask what is Thaipusam? Not to blame them, Thaipusam is not a public holiday, that’s how realistic Singaporeans are, and I myself other then knowing that it’s a festival where Indians carry the Kavadis (the structures with sharp ends pokes in to the flesh of the carrier)

Upon stepping out of Douby Gauht MRT, I had the feeling that I reached Little India instead. Swamps of Indians are parading on the road and many others gathering on the pavement and fields.

The real festive mood can only be enjoyed in the night. When I went for dinner, that’s when the real ‘celebration’ started. There’s many more Kavadis than in the day and the crowd is larger. As they parade they sang and dance, it’s really a festive scene.
