In exchange for a free lunch, I agreed to help Jiaying for the Patron's Day thingy. What I am supposed to do is to produce an A4 artwork representing what SMU means to me. And tada! here's my entry.
The optimistic message I'm bringing out is that SMU gives me plenty of opportunities, such as exchanges, good interns, leadership positions. Nevertheless, there's some hidden messages in the drawing as well. The lion doesn't look happy and it's in b/w while the rest of the stuff r in color. That's probably how I'm feeling occasionally in school - 无敌是寂寞的。 School rarely disappoints be in terms of opportunities and academic related stuff, but sometimes I just want to put all these pragmatic things aside and enjoy like a pack of deer, and not like a lonely king of the jungle.
Oh well, this is not supposed to be an emo post. So ya, recently got a bit interested in arts nowadays, beginning with logo designs and now going back to basic pencil, pens and paper. Attended Articated's workshop last friday but was largely disappointed as no techniques were taught and it seems more like a recruitment drive. At least I had an opportunity to draw stuff, and with the momentum I carried on with this drawing and not use my favorite Illustrator (I did use some photoshop though). Though my drawing still CMI, I'm actually quite surprised that my lion still look like a lion. Probably now I can make better use of my sketchbook and who knows, it may well be my new outlet of frustration.
