Went for the exchange briefing today to know more about going on an international exchange. Basically have decided on the destination for the exchange before the talk, and it's a less known country known as Kazakhstan, and going to the Kazakhstan Institute of Management. JJ will be going on the exchange with me as well, and probably Marcus too, but depending on the school policy.
Just in case anyone doesn't know where Kazakhstan is, it's actually located in Central Asia or Eastern Europe, between China and Russia. Although there's 'stan' like in Afghanistan, Kazakhstan is much more peaceful and prosperous in comparison with its natural resources. So in general it is much safer than it sounds.
Kazakhstan Institute of Management is a rather international school as well, and lessons are taught in English, so there shouldn't be too much of a problem. Had a picture of the school from the website, and you can actually see snow capped mountains from the school. How cool right?
Although there's still one year more if I actually go to Kazakhstan, I have to more or less start my preparations. First is financially, I have to save up although an exchange to Kazakhstan is relatively affordable, and from the talk today, there seems to be quite a number of scholarship going around. Academically, I have to work hard too, since the exchange is more of less a strategic move for me. Not only do I wish to lock in my GPA, I also hope to clear those non-quantitative mods which I am less likely to do well. Finally, I get to do the mods I like related to visual comms without pressure since it's a pass/fail thingy only.
